How it works

Sign in with Microsoft
Open a browser, go to the firm's Time URL, and sign in with your existing Microsoft 365 account — the same one you use for email. No separate credentials, no software to install.
Find a matter and enter time
Type a matter number, client name, or any part of the description. Results appear as you type — recent matters surface first. Select a matter and the billing rate, activity codes, and task codes fill in automatically from ProLaw.
Save — it goes straight into ProLaw
Enter your hours and narrative, then save. The entry writes directly to ProLaw's Transactions table via the Fabric API — no sync, no import, no middle step. It's there immediately.

Press the Draft button and Claude AI writes a polished billing narrative from the matter context and any notes you've typed. Review, edit, and save — professional write-ups in seconds.
Direct write to ProLaw
Entries save directly to ProLaw's Transactions table via the Fabric API. No batch files, no re-entry, no sync delays. What you save is what ProLaw sees — immediately.
Smart matter defaults
Selecting a matter auto-fills your billing rate, activity codes, task codes, and project fields — pulled live from ProLaw's configuration for that matter.
Built-in timer
Click Start before a task, Stop when done. Elapsed time converts to your firm's billing increment automatically and fills in the hours field. Pop the timer out into its own window to keep it visible while you work.
Abbreviation expansion
Type a short code followed by a space and it expands into the full phrase. Abbreviations can be defined at the system, professional, or matter level — matter-level takes priority.
Calendar view
A monthly calendar shows your daily billable hour totals at a glance. Spot gaps before billing runs. Click any day to jump directly to that date's entries.
Multi-timekeeper support
Administrators and billing coordinators can view and enter time on behalf of other timekeepers. Security permissions carry over from ProLaw — you can only see and edit what your security class allows.
Spell check
Scan every Batch narrative at once before sending time to billing. Accept suggestions, ignore terms, or add words to your firm's custom dictionary — which ProLaw's own spell check also recognizes.
Export to Excel or CSV
Download your entries in Excel or CSV format. The export includes matter ID, client, hours, rate, value, narrative, activity code, task code, and initials.
Mobile-ready
The full interface works on phones and tablets — matter search, entry form, and entry list all reflow cleanly for small screens. Installs to the home screen like a native app on iPhone and Android.
Access management
Firm administrators manage their own user roster through a self-service admin page. Add or remove timekeepers without involving NextPro staff. NextPro has a separate view of active users across all firms for billing and support purposes.
AI Narrative Drafting

Attorneys often rush through narratives — or skip them entirely — because writing detailed billing descriptions feels like extra work at the end of a long day. Time includes an AI drafting button powered by Claude.
Select the matter, add a brief note about what you worked on, and press Draft. Claude writes a polished, professional billing narrative. Review it, adjust if needed, and save. The entry goes into ProLaw with a narrative that accurately represents the work — without the friction that causes timekeepers to put it off.

Outside counsel guideline–aware narratives
Many corporate clients enforce billing guidelines that dictate how time narratives must be written — forbidden phrases, required task codes, block billing rules. The AI narrative engine will learn your clients' OCG requirements and draft narratives that comply automatically, flagging anything that would likely be written off before the invoice ever leaves the firm.
Passive AI time capture
Rather than starting a timer or entering time after the fact, passive capture will observe your work activity throughout the day and suggest time entries — already matched to matters, already drafted with narratives — that you review and approve. The goal is to surface billable time that would otherwise go uncaptured without adding any discipline to the attorney's day.

Frequently asked questions
- Does Time require a ProLaw license for each user?
- No. That's the point. Attorneys and timekeepers access Time through a web browser using their existing Microsoft account — no ProLaw client installation, no ProLaw license, and no VPN required.
- How do users sign in?
- Time uses Azure AD B2B authentication. Attorneys sign in with their existing Microsoft 365 account — the same one they use for email. NextPro invites them as guest users. No separate username or password to manage.
- Where do entries go in ProLaw?
- Entries write directly to ProLaw's Transactions table with Stage set to Batch. They are editable in Time until NextPro staff promotes them to WIP. This gives your firm a review window before entries enter the billing pipeline.
- Can a paralegal or billing coordinator enter time on behalf of an attorney?
- Yes. The multi-timekeeper selector lets authorized users switch between timekeepers and enter time on their behalf. Access is governed by the same security model ProLaw uses — SecurityClassTransactions and ProfessionalsTransProfs — so no separate permissions layer is required.
- Does Time require anything installed on workstations or servers?
- Time is a hosted web application running in Azure — nothing is installed on workstations. It connects to ProLaw through the NextPro Fabric API, which does need to be installed and running on your ProLaw server.
- What happens to entries that were entered incorrectly?
- Entries in Batch stage are fully editable — click the entry to load it back into the form, change any field, and save. Entries that have been promoted to WIP or Billed are displayed read-only.
